A native of Southern California, Deven grew up in Long Beach. After attending the film production program at Loyola Marymount University in Los Angeles, he took his first job with Pacific Ocean Post, learning post-production from the ground up.

He then moved into commercial television production and attained membership in the Directors Guild of America as an Assistant Director.  He has found the opportunity to direct a wide variety of projects including several web commercials and a television pilot for the production company, Space Program. His short film entitled, MACH 1, was well received at both the Venice and New York Short Film Festivals; earning second place honors in New York.
